Tafe teachers in Victoria seeking fair pay (Australia).
NSW railworkers planned this one to coincide with the Pope's visit!
Boeing workers seeking a greater share of company profits (Seattle - USA).
Electrical and telecommunications workers in USA also seeking better conditions and incentives to work.
In each of these cases, what is being asked for and why do workers feel entitled to it at this time?

Hello,
I read that all these industries and many more are being affected my minimal wages, or so they say...
wanting pay increases to improve their well being and financial freedom. What does this do to the economy if all industries are wanting a pay increase?? i know that people need these pay increases to live within and around inflation, what is the solution?

I think it was pretty harsh of Railcorp in NSW to plan a strike at the time where trains are needed the most, though if they wanted to make a point, that would have been the time to do it! I agree with Taylor, increases may be good for the workers but if every industry starts striking for higher wages, soon enough production will slow, then wages would have to drop again and the idea of striking for better living standards goes out the window. So I guess the question is: will striking actually help?
